The Craft of Painting in Acrylics Making Color Sing

This course is a continuation of the Fall Term Acrylic Painting course. It explores step-by-step fundamental techniques to develop your skills in color mixing, painting transparent and opaque washes, applying strokes to create texture, and applying flat color tones with acrylic paints. Participants should have some basic experience painting with other wet mediums (oils, watercolor, markers, or ink; but it is not necessary. The class exercises will give participants first-hand techniques for applying color to create monochromatic, complementary, analogous composition using pure color, tints by adding white and shades by adding complements to create value and color harmony. Prerequisite: Participants should have a working knowledge of the primary (yellow, red, and blue) and secondary (orange, green, and violet) colors on the basic color wheel and the color schemes (complementary, analogous, split complement). Information about the required materials will be provided upon registration.
